So Ludo fills a niche genre in music that I usually don't listen to. However where bands like Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, etc have never begged repeat listens... ludo always makes me come back. So I guess they are currently my "power-pop-rock" choice. I Like them for a whole bunch of reasons, their music is clean and straightforward... it's not re-writing any norms, and that's important. The lyrics however are a different story. Nearly every song is laced with a sarcasm and wit that pokes fun at themselves and everyone else. I've always loved when a band knows when to take themselves seriously, and when to not. Ludo walks that very thin line through every verse, hook, and bridge. I'd also encourage looking into the Broken Bride EP... it's a story album about time traveling to try and save a dead lover... there's songs about fighting undead armies and pterodactyls. It's awesome. So this song is off of the record "You're Awful, I Love You" and it's great... it's not even the highlight of the record, but right now it's my favorite, and it's the first song I heard off the album.

12 You're So Pretty.....

I just finished reading Transmetropolitan. It was incredibly awesome, and as I've been discussing it with random people over the past few days I've been getting several recommendations, and I think I've got some more reading lined up. I'm pretty excited about it.

It's not often anymore that I read/watch something that is bad ass not only because it's violent and dark, but also because it's intelligent and insightful. This whole series fit the bill perfectly. It paints a huge, beautifully disgusting, terribly witty, and strangely enthralling picture. It managed to be bitterly cynical and desperately hopeful at the same time. You know, the kind of thing that makes you feel disgusted, and inspired at the same time.

I also love stories about journalism, I especially like the idea of someone working the same media machine that's being used daily to brainwash us into apathy to enact awareness and change.

Anyway, if you ever get the chance to read all 60 issues, go for it. If you're not sure how to go about doing that, just ask... I can point you in the right direction. I have no regrets about all the time I spent scrolling and clicking. I'd love to eventually own legit copies of the whole thing. In fact, It's one of my next short term goals.

So I finally sat down and wrote a little bit on the first item on my list of ten things to make life easier. I really am going to eventually finish writing in detail about each of these little rules. For some of you I'm sure this is going to sound like common sense, but for some of you it's going to sound new... and that's exciting to me. I really do read this list every day, and I really do feel like it makes a difference. Again, any comments or questions are great. I'm working through this as I go. If you agree, I'd love to know why. If you disagree, I'd love to know why.

01. Waste as little as possible, and want less.
Okay, I'm serious about this: Redefine for yourself the word "need". Not just materialistically, but also physically, mentally, and emotionally. What do you really need? And if you want some perspective on what humans are capable of surviving off of just take a look at the world outside your civilization. Here's the truth, if you have food to eat, a place to sleep, your health, and a purpose, everything else in your life is a luxury. Now, I'm not saying that living a life of luxury is a bad thing, but to many people misplace the importance of things. We spend so much of our lives striving to attain expendable things in excess, if just a fraction of that energy can be redirected towards helping others who need help the world will be a better place. And once you learn to divert your expectations away from unnecessary excess you'll start to appreciate the things that are really important.
Negative things like greed, laziness, apathy, and selfishness can all stem from feeling obligated to have more than you need. The idea of "waste not, want not" has been around for ages because it's true. It protects a person from a skewed perspective that would lead to feeling unsatisfied without any true justification. The less you waste what you have, the less you'll need. We live in a society that thrives off of trying to convince you that the things you want, are things you can't live without, and that the things you have, are never good enough. We are taught from a very young age that success is tied to what you get out of your investments of time and money. This rule accomplishes two really wonderful things, the first being that being less wasteful and wanting less leaves more natural resources for the people who still have not met their most basic needs. Second, it manages to make you less stressed out. Once you've achieved satisfying your most basic needs, you'll feel blessed to have anything above and beyond that. This makes you more thankful, more generous, and more content. All that sounds good, and all it takes is a little shift in perspective. If you are reading this now, you must be sitting at a computer. That makes you a lucky person. You are blessed, know it.

    It all started with hearing Wet and Rusting for the first time. The song felt like foreshadowing... slowly I worked (for almost three months) waiting for the rest of the songs to come together over me, all the songs that will tell me the future. Once I was done, I'd have a prophetic mix tape on my hands... something to pass along to God to make sure He gets it right.
    Originally titled "Dear God: Take Notes..." The songs on this mix have lyrics that line up with the premonition I had of what is coming. The general idea is that things are changing for me and I feel it, I felt this way last February and I'd missed this ambition and restlessness. I'm hoping that during the process of picking songs and weeding them out, I'll find a conclusion that is more optimistic. The last song to be chosen was Enter One by Sol Seppy, and in that song they sing "Insha'Allah" which translates into English as "if it is God's will". After giving it some thought I decided that this was a better title for the mix.
